I am a writer and creative based in North Carolina who focuses on stories about community, culture, and the environment, particularly along the coast. My work explores themes of rural life, living history, and the environment in the American South.

As a storyteller, I’m driven to explore and understand the connections between people, place, and tradition. I’m drawn to coastal communities and regional heritage, and I strive to highlight the people and places that shape Southern cultural identity. I weave together in-depth interviews, archival research, and oral histories to create rich, narrative-driven stories deeply rooted in place.

I live in Eastern North Carolina at the confluence of the Neuse and the Trent Rivers in New Bern with my partner, photographer and creative director, Baxter Miller. Meeting her is one of the best things that happened to me as an undergrad at UNC-CH (the other is getting our labradoodle, Lexington). We’re beyond grateful to spend unreasonable amounts of time on North Carolina’s Outer Banks and in Down East. When we're not chasing coastal stories or wandering backroads, you'll find us dreaming up new projects with Sandbox Collaborative, our creative agency that specializes in brand storytelling through photography, design, and brand development.
